How to Handle Any Type of Pest

Reducing and Removing Spider Infestations: A Guide

Some people hate spiders. It's not quite the same level of revulsion as that which is directed at snakes and scorpions, but it's pretty high up there. There are a lot of different reasons too — most people are totally freaked out by the idea of being bitten and also just don't like creepy crawly things in their home with them at night. This article is going to cover how to get rid of spiders in your house and get you on the path to peace of mind! Read on to find out more!

1. Spray them with insecticide

This is one of the easiest methods for killing spiders, but it can be pretty toxic if used improperly. Insecticides should only be used on hard surfaces and in places where children or pets won't be exposed to them. Spray the surfaces where spiders have been seen with the insecticide using a long-distance spray, such as a pump-sprayer — it's easier to hit the spider this way. Make sure that you cover all of the areas that spiders love to crawl through, such as corners, ceilings, door frames and window sills. This approach will help to exterminate spider infestations.

2. Destroy the webs

Another great way to get rid of the spiders in your house is by getting rid of the webs. The spider will be forced to relocate if it can't build a web and will hopefully take some of its broodmates with it. You can use a commercial 'non-staining' cleaner for this, but there are also some excellent natural options that you can choose too. Soap-suds are a great way to get rid of spider webs, and you can also use water mixed with vinegar or citrus juice to do the same job.

3. Get a cat or dog

The simple fact is that spiders tend not to live in areas where they're going to be eaten on a regular basis. There's no need to go out and buy a cat or dog though. If you aren't allergic, you can borrow a small pet from a friend for a few weeks to see off the spiders in your home.

4. Contact a pest control agency

If you really can't control the spiders in your home, it may be time to contact a spider extermination professional. They can use professional methods to completely clear your home of spiders. They will also be able to give you advice on how to prevent spiders from nesting in your home.
